Fractured Europe: list of characters & places

As well as a few notes about some significant events.

From The Fractured Europe Sequence & Cold Water by Dave Hutchinson

This list may be particularly helpful for people who listen to the audiobooks—for example, when characters are named Forsyth and Forsythe; Stefan and Stepan; Erik and Eric—as well as for people like me who aren't deeply familiar with the geography of Europe. It also can be helpful when a character is briefly introduced, then shows up hundreds of pages later or in a following book. That said, even after two listens and taking these notes, I'm still puzzled about some bits of the story. And that's okay.

Audiobook covers of the five Fractured Europe series books: Europe in Autumn (in shades of burnt orange, a man's face with eyes in shadow surrounded by circles of railroad tracks and hovering above a sunset setting over a far horizon; in shades of dark blue), Europe at Midnight (a backlit train entering the far end of a tunnel between the head of a man and a woman, each looking off to one of the sides, surrounded by circles of railroad tracks), Europe in Winter (in shades of white and gray, a train running across a winter landscape with three faces looking out below, a woman and two men, surrounded by circles of railroad tracks), Europe at Dawn (in shades of dark red, a train approaching with the sunrise behind and with the heads of four people hovering above, a man, two women, and another man, surrounded by circles of railroad tracks), and Cold Water (the top half shows a tilted view looking up a dark escalator with glass sides. At the top is the silhoutte of a woman, and beyond, the hazy outlines of skyscrappers bathed in a light yellow-gold light; the bottom half shows the entire scene mirrored upside down).

A map of the area where the Fractured Europe story takes place with significant placenames from the story added in red with arrows pointing to their location. Scotland: Edinburgh. England: in the central region, Nottingham; just north of London, Stansted Airport; just west of London, Heathrow Airport; a little bit further northwest of London, Village of Stanhurst. Southern region of Belgium: Wallonia. South of Belguim, between France and Germany: Luxembourg. Germany: to the northwest, Dortmund; in the north, Warnemünde; in the east, near the border of Czechia, Dresden. Poland: north central, Poznań; east central, Wrocław (Breslau); south central to south, Opele, Gliwice, Krakow. Estonia: to the north on the Baltic Sea, Lahemaa rahvuspark and Tallinn; to the east, Pärnu; an island off the east coast, Saaremaa.
