Thinking about pentagons and dodecahedrons – 9 The beauty and harmony of the pentagon and its associated pentacle and dodecahedron has inspired artists, mathematicians, philosophers, and spiritualists throughout the ages. The pentagon forms one of the bases for sacred Islamic art. The pentacle symbol is used in the modern Wiccan religion. The dodecahedron represented the universe itself to the ancient Greek philosophers. Regardless of whether we personally identify with any of these associations, we cannot deny that there is something within this simple yet profound shape that touches our human spirit and gives wing to our imagination.
